Diagnosing a redirect url
URL Redirect (also referred to as URL Forwarding or vanity urls) is a technique which is used to redirect your domain's visitors to a different URL. You can forward your domain name to any website, webpage, etc. which is available online. Redirects are a technique for making a web page available under more than one URL address. When a web browser attempts to open a URL that has been redirected, a page with a different URL is opened.
URL redirection is done for various reasons:
- for URL shortening;
- to prevent broken links when web pages are moved;
- to allow multiple domain names belonging to the same owner to refer to a single web site;
- to guide navigation into and out of a website;
- for privacy protection;
- for hostile purposes such as phishing attacks or malware distribution.

Redirect urls are expressly prohibited for use in display, native, audio and video served or tracked through the ad server.
Redirects cause loss of valuable click data for analytics and MTA platforms and are a security risk to the client (even if the url comes from the client).
